Give a kid a camera...

On tonight's ride home, I let Jasper take pictures using my camera. Apart from a fixation with wanting to take a picture of my head, he managed to snap some of his favorite parts of the ride.

Engines!

Brutalism

BART station

East Bay truck stop

Big white thing

Entering the tunnel approaching Lake Merritt

Saw tooth roof

This is what two looks like.

(A narrative with photos)

Jasper turned two today. I know, right?! He spent the day with Grandma and Aunt Hatt; they went to the Academy of Science. He bounced off walls, apparently.

We let Jasper choose dinner tonight. He chose pizza, because it meant he got to sing the pizza song. (Peeee-zza! Bum bum bum! Peeee-zza! Bum bum bum!) And we got him a strawberry cupcake for dessert. The boy doesn't eat dessert usually. He seemed to like it...

Cupcake?

Cupcake!

Cuuupcaaaake....

Some stuff

I'm apparently a really bad blogger. Here we celebrated Jasper's 21 month birthday on Tuesday, and nary an update.

So, some random things about that awesome kid.

In the last month, he has grown over an inch. In one month!! Weedlet.

Morrissey is currently his favorite thing in the world. As soon as he spots Mo, he runs after him shouting "Mo! Mo!" Poor cat.

BART rides have become a little hit or miss. Either he'll be delightful and charming, flirting his head off, or he'll start a series of ear piercing shrieks that sound a little like a coach's whistle, causing people to plug their ears and switch cars.

He drives every - stuff animals, cheddar goldfish, tupperware lids - like a train. "Choo choo!"

He doesn't want me to read to him anymore. He'll hold the book and he'll turn the pages, thankyouverymuchmamamama.

He's picking up words like crazy right now. (Gotta start watching your mouth, mamamama.)

He maybe identifies a little too much with the dog:

Why People on BART Think I'm Crazy

(my commentary to Jasper as we emerge from the Transbay Tube)

Hello, sky!

Hello, shipping containers!

Hello, railroad tracks!

Hello, at-ats!

Hello, freeway!

Hello, warehouse with corrugated fiberglass windows!

Hello, trucks!

Hello, parking lot!

Hello, Brutalist post office built after the redevelopment agency tore down houses with an Army tank!

Hello, trees!

Hello, beautiful kid!
